Internet Marketing – Is Free Always Good?

There are various ways that individuals receive free resources and gifts. For example from affiliate marketing programs. Many are wise enough to feel fortunate to have whatever ‘leg up’ they can get. Besides the financial benefit, it may have a positive effect on their mindset that someone is helping. Some realize they actually may have just saved $100s or even $1000s in development and start-up costs to create their home business. These folks have the best intentions and will likely make good use of what has been provided usually free of charge for affiliates.

Free!

However sometimes it appears people really do not know what they have been given. This could be because they don’t know how much something would cost them if they were to develop something themselves. With this group, often once the ‘high’ of joining the program and getting all the prizes is over, they are not really interested to see what would happen if they actually take action. They really don’t want to do any work and in fact what appealed to them was only free, easy, and today. They thought that because everything was free so far that the program would also get the traffic, leads and sales for them.

Once in a while there may be a total disconnect because someone may not trust the fact that some things are actually ‘free’. Then they expect to find out what it really costs. They may also stubbornly refuse to spend any money, not being a good sport to support a company that has been an advantage to them. They are only interested in a business that is totally free. What they are really saying is that is all it is worth to them = $000. These are often the same ones who also do not work for free (even for themselves) to build a home business. The only funny part is then they can’t understand why they failed except to blame the program.

It seems really stupid when someone can’t actually appreciate what they have been given, and without acknowledging that it has any value. For some reason they feel it is more logical for them to pretend it is nothing because it is free. They can’t stand obligation or feeling that they owe someone. Everything just goes to waste. They are absolved of all responsibility to appreciate it.

Maybe they at least make a shallow effort to look everything over. Cold feet? They pronounce that it’s not an option because it still (will) cost too much money, require too much work, or won’t have instant profit, (will take time to develop). Some just can’t understand how to get started even with instructions. For some reason they just give up right off the bat. It’s no big loss since it was free anyway.

Maybe it is just true that Internet marketing, or affiliate marketing are just not for everyone. We are all different and it is definitely no disgrace if you just can’t relate to this even for free. There is no shame and in fact it had some value that at least they made a tiny effort to see what it would involve.

Maybe years from now, when things may be different, you will try again. In the future, you may be able to do something that before seemed unachievable. You might try and fail 10 times before you get to the right time and opportunity for you. Just don’t give up.

Got Writer’s Block? Blogging for Internet Marketing

Writer’s block is probably more about a lack of ideas to write about than the actual inability to write. When someone is new and they can’t really determine how successful they have been yet, some people will feel they have nothing to say or that they could swear is true since they haven’t had the experience. These are just temporary obstacles if a person really wants to write.

write ON!

Marketers NEED to be able to write – no matter what. No excuses unless you can afford to pay for Ghostwriters, Blogging is the primary FREE way to promote a domain, website or business. This is not just a ‘file and forget’ fact. To do so would be to waste a valuable strategy that would create an opportunity to have your site(s) indexed by the search engines and get free traffic.

We must force ourselves to write, and it is not only blogging, but writing ads, communicating with our prospects, customers, and peers; trying to convey an issue to a technical or customer service agent when we have a problem or question, and participating in social networks and forums.

Most people starting out in Internet Marketing don’t have a lot of money to spend at first, maybe even for the first several months when you are not yet generating a substantial income. This is one of the reasons that you need to just do it! Sit down and start writing. Write anything.

Pretend you are writing a letter to a friend if that helps.
You do want to write as if you are open and relaxed as you would with a friend. Nobody needs to create a text book or technical specifications here, just be able to clearly convey an idea or concept – even an opinion works. Of course in some cases especially on the technical side, being able to quote statistics and citing specifications is more powerful than just your opinion.

Try to be conscientious of correct spelling and grammar, which only requires proofreading and being as accurate as possible. Very quick and easy to look up a few words on a search engine if you are not sure how it is spelled or what it means.

Most Wordprocessors have spell check so that should help too. (however they are not advanced enough to recognize some things such as words that are spelled correctly but used in the wrong context – for example – ‘Right me a letter’ should be ‘Write me a letter). Just take a few minutes to browse through what you have written before you publish it. Doesn’t need to be perfect, just close!

You can write about what you are learning, and/or your opinion of things that you read. Reading is an excellent way to get ideas for what to write about. Never copy word for word, but you can just rewrite anything in your own words.

Be honest if you have not yet experienced something first-hand or earned a substantial amount of money from it – There is nothing wrong with quoting people who have, as long as you are truthful and give credit to the author. Use “quote” marks to indicate you are quoting, not composing, to make this acceptable. There are tools that people use to check if their writing is being copied by someone else without their permission or not giving credit to the original author, so beware. Write ON!

Work at Home – Do Something Different

It may be that when you think in terms of expanding your efforts to earn extra money from home, that you only consider opportunities in the same genre as the ones you already have. This has its good points organizationally and logically – it will also help you as you won’t need to duplicate your efforts across the board.

keep it interesting 4 U 2!

However, it may also be a good idea to do something totally different that doesn’t fit together with anything you are already doing. This could be fun and offer some variety for you. For example say your home business is one that is centered around affiliate marketing programs. One way to expand might be to offer services for affiliates – to help them promote their business, such as list builders, solo ads, etc. This fits easily into your existing portfolio.

However wouldn’t it be fun to take up a craft that involves your hobbies or interests? For example have you always wanted to try your hand at making something like natural soaps and candles – or baking? This could be fun and may also become another source of income. A business based on arts and crafts is a lot more labor intensive than Internet marketing; but remember it is for fun and variety as well as extra income eventually.

Don’t do it unless you think it would be fun, as if not you may see it as one-too-many-things to do. You may be surprised that even when someone is totally focused to one thing, that you will find people that are more than willing to change the subject. They may actually be tickled by finding something they want ‘out of the clear blue sky’.

One example is a gas station where obviously selling gas is the primary source of income. Usually gas stations have ‘mini-marts’ where you can buy ‘convenience’ items while you are there. These ‘mini marts’ are a good little source of ‘extra’ income.

However, this could go farther, possibly if the owners also make some delicious home-made fried chicken to sell to their customers. Nobody would be expecting this in a gas station ‘mini-mart’ and therefore it has some attraction as a novelty.
